Step 1: This is a newer & niche technique, one we proudly developed for indie authors to help indie books stay competitive with traditional publishers who have more accessibility to digitally sprayed edges. To ensure you understand what you're ordering, we recommend reviewing our info sheet to set your expectations for the end product you will get.
Step 2: Purchase and download PDF files from Painted Wings Publishing according to your required trim size. (If you don’t find the pattern/colors/sizes/etc you want within our premade options, we’re happy to design something custom for you!)
Step 3: Choose the best design for your project from various options (tips and recommendations included).
Step 4: Apply the appropriate PDF to your project in Vellum (instructions included).
Step 5: Generate your print manuscript PDF & submit to your printer of choice.
*Our files meet all industry standard requirements, giving you the best possible chance of success with printers, and we actively track shifts in industry policies, but we cannot guarantee every printer will handle or accept our files. At the time of sale, we're not aware of any printers that would have a problem with this design.

Product Description: This listing includes 4 variations of this edge design that you can choose from. These combinations include internal decorative borders and different widths, along with recommendations to help you select which is best for your book and instructions on how to apply it within Vellum.
—Top and Bottom Edges: This design does not include a top or bottom edge. Our instant downloads do not include complex patterns on the top/bottom edges because doing so significantly increases the risk of misprints.
—Optional Border Type: Line
 
Please Note: This design repeats every 160 pages. Vellum centers the primary design and duplicates it before and after that section to fill your total page count. Books with fewer than 160 pages will have part of the design clipped.
Branding watermarks on display images will not display on the final product.
 
Licensing Details:
—This purchase is commercially licensed for (1) Author/Publisher to use on any of their own book titles.
 
—Similar to cover designers, editors, etc, we request a credit on your copyright page (‘Page edge design by Painted Wings Publishing’ or similar).
 
—It is strongly suggested you request a physical proof from your printer before publishing or ordering any retail copies. At no time will Painted Wings Publishing be held financially or legally responsible for any problems, costs, fees, or expenses incurred as a result of using our files. By purchasing this listing, you acknowledge you’ve read our guidelines and recommendations (via our info sheet) and you understand third party limitations when it comes to the quality of the final product’s outcome. You assume the risk that there may be cases where the printer’s process detracts from Painted Wings Publishing’s design, and it is outside of PWP’s control, and you may have limited options regarding replacement or refund when it comes to third party printer costs.
 
Acceptable Usage:
—Purchasing Author/Publisher may use these PDF edge files on their own books in Vellum via Vellum’s ‘borders’ function. Files may be supplied to a formatter of Author’s/Publisher’s choosing for application, but the license does not transfer for usage beyond the original terms. (Painted Wings Publishing also formats, if you’re looking to hire that out!)
